Financial advisor leads: how to find wealthy clients yourself
The short answer
The best financial advisor leads are not bought. They are business owners who leave public signs of wealth: a company sale in the news, a large stake in a profitable company, a family investment company of their own.
Wisemation finds them from one sentence, like "Wealthy business owners in Texas". Each person comes with the reason they fit, a checked work email, and emails written for them.
A company sale in the news beats a filled-in form.

What is a good financial advisor lead?
A good financial advisor lead is a person who has money to invest and a reason to look at it now. The clearest reason is a liquidity event: they sold a company, took it public, or took money out of it. The next best sign is ownership: a large share of a profitable company, or a family investment company of their own.
A job title alone is a weak lead. "CEO" can mean a listed company with 2,000 staff or a consultancy of one.
Why do bought financial advisor leads disappoint?
Many lead services sell people who filled in a form on a comparison or matching site. The form says someone wants advice. It does not say how much money they have. On r/CFP, the Reddit forum for financial planners, a thread on Google's first page for this search (October 2026) is an advisor explaining their distaste for lead services like SmartAsset.
Searching for "high-net-worth" has the opposite problem. The people who write "high-net-worth" on their websites are often the people who serve them: wealth managers, private bankers and brokers. Wealthy people rarely describe themselves that way.
Which public signs show that someone is wealthy?
The strongest public signs of wealth are a place on a rich list, the sale of a company, a large holding in a listed company, a public income record (in Finland, Norway and Sweden) and ownership of a profitable company. Each person gets points for every sign found, and every sign must be quoted from the page it came from.

Every email is checked, every person researched. Each address is verified live before it counts, and each person gets a short note on why they fit.
4

Questions financial advisors ask
Where do financial advisors get leads?
Mostly from referrals, events, their own content, and paid lead services that sell people who filled in a form. The other way is to build your own list from public signs of wealth: company sales, stakes in profitable companies and family investment companies.
How do I get clients as a financial advisor without buying leads?
Describe the clients you want in one sentence, such as wealthy business owners in your city. Wisemation finds them, checks each email, researches each person, and writes the first email and follow-ups. You approve every message before it goes.
Can I find business owners who just sold their company?
Yes. A founder who sold in the last 12 months is usually in the news, with the buyer named. Write it into the sentence, for example "Wealthy founders in the UK who sold their company in the last 12 months".
Does it work outside the US?
Yes. It searches the web, not one country's database. In Finland, Norway and Sweden, personal taxable income is public, so a tax record can count as a sign of wealth too.
Do the emails go out without me?
No. You approve every person and every message before anything is sent, and it sends from your own Gmail or Outlook. Follow-ups stop when someone replies.
Wisemation finds them, checks every email, researches each person, writes the emails, and sends them from your own inbox. 10 leads free each month, no card.
